Nail Trends For Autumn Winter 2013
26th Jan 2013
The New Vampy Shades
Black goes matt this season; the models at Cynthia Rowley sported short black matt nails with a punk edge, in favour of long glossy black talons. For those that won't stray from classic red, try a darker shade such as vampy oxblood or deep purples for an A/W update. Greys, browns and khakis are delicious dark neutrals to replace creamy summer shades.
Nail Art
For the more adventurous, nail art is a super fun nail style to create and a cool way to show off your individuality. Find nail art materials, such as decorative tape and crystal gems, alongside other nail salon equipment online at Coolblades.
3D nail art went crazy for Autumn Winter; at Liberty models' nails were coated in Technicolour crystals and literally dripped in luxury. Nails at Kate Spade were a more 'chic-luxe' and painted in opulent purple with a single gold stud stamped on each nail. Lace pops up everywhere in Autumn Winter and nails weren't immune from it this season, at Houghton nails were pressed with lace strips and trimmed around the edges to fit the nails—perfect for rocking a gothic glam!
Statement Monochrome
The trendiest nail trend this season had to be monochrome. Bold black and white stamped across models\' nails in various patterns gave a graphic twist to nail trends for Autumn Winter. Monochrome manis were a key design; paint nails white and slick on black tips, or turn it around into a half-moon mani, with a black half-moon and white nails. At the Betsy Johnson show, white letters were stamped across each shiny black nail; similar to a statement tee… but for nails!
The New Metallic
Move over gold, this season sees silver being the most desirable metallic. From silver manicure tips to full on metallic silver swathed nails, models fingertips shimmered across the catwalks for Autumn Winter. The models at Antipodoum flashed metallic manicures and silver, grey and black glitter tips popped up at the Nikholas K show.
Nails have evolved over the past few years, thanks to a nail art and pattern explosion you can match your nails to anything from your personal style to a fashion trend. From demure neutrals to whacky nails, ensure you have the correct materials to create any nail design this Autumn Winter.
