7 Hair Trends Spotted at London Fashion Week

1) Braids, braids, braids.

Nothing new to see here. Taking inspiration from the raucous punk era of the 70s, team slim braids running through your hair with straightened strands pulled forward off your face. Think Gwen-Stefani No Doubt-esque. Check out the Temperley AW14 catwalk hairstyles for inspiration.

2) 90s Grunge

The 90s have been gradually creeping back into our lives since, well, the 90s. They've not only infiltrated fashion, we're now also taking major hair-spiration from the decade this season. Look to Antonio Beradi and JPB AW14 for that middle-part raw-textured hair so reminiscent of the original grunge decade. Osmo Power Powder is great for providing a mattified firm hold with texture and volume for that authentic grunge look.

3) Cornrows

Not one for the faint hearted, but what comes with 90s grunge is 90s R 'n' B. We're talking Jessica Alba Honey-style. Eye-wateringly tight cornrows nod to nineties and more recently, noughties trend. If you do fancy braving a section of cornrows, then something like a Denman DC05 Tail Comb to tease out tiny sections of hair and get that precise look needed for cornrows.

4) Headbands

Headbands are massive right now. If you can't be bothered to wash your hair, this is an instant vanity fix. Pull on your thickest, blackest, ballet-dancer headband and pirouette your way down the street, hiding your best kept (greasy) secret with effortless class.

5) Colour Twist

Colour. It's still here. But inevitably, as the pastel hair trend has been well and truly overdone, people are now looking for new ways to switch things up. Although pink is still the big thing, Dolce & Gabbana added a dash of blue through tresses, whilst Ashish displayed revolutionary raccoon-tail hair extensions.

6) Sand-Drenched Hair

Giles Deacon AW14 hair reflected a day spent on the beach. Presuming you don't have a bowl of sand to stick your head in, why not invest in a Gamma+ Bubble Iron Styler ready for summer. Ideal for creating a relaxed, wavy, beach-ready style.

7) The Swinging Sixties

The 60s theme running through LFW this spring was pretty impossible to miss. At PPQ, we saw this influence with a modern twist; hair volume was moved from the crown to the back of the head in a classic ponytail. The models at Mimi Fasi had beehives accessorized with psychedelic-print headscarves. Not the most low-maintenance of styles, but fixing it with a product like Proclère Professional Freeze Gel Spray, will keep it looking chic all day long.
