10 Inspiring Hair & Beauty Trends from Paris Fashion Week

1. The Twiggy Eye

The last few seasons have been all about the 60s with kohl lines tracing your eye arch, but this season the look focuses on stand-out eyelashes. Seen on the models at Yves Saint Laurent AW14, it calls for super heavy cat-eye flicks on top and the classic doe-eyed Twiggy eyelash lines below your lower eyelid.

2. Slicked-Back Hair

Wet-look hairstyles showed up in many guises all over the Paris catwalks, but all retained that sleek and classy element. Hair was slicked into middle-part ponytails at Givenchy, slightly coiffed at Fendi and was literally dripping "just out of the water" wet at Marni.

3. Return of the Side Parting

The oh-so-simple and effortless side parting is finally making a comeback. A chic, unfussy side parting was seen at Burberry Prorsum (on Cara D. of course) and Hermès used it to great effect to create a glamorous traveller look this season.

4. Eyeliner, Eyeliner and MORE Eyeliner

This look hasn't even heard of subtlety; it's all about making your eyeliner into a huge statement in itself. A simple yet effective look you can easily recreate in the comfort of your own home, we've seen heavy eyeliner in graphic, block and feathered smudging styles recently.

At Kenzo, the look was described as "1950s with a punk edge" and effectively involved a super-heavy cat-flick across the upper eyelid. Lavin models sported thick eyeliner with jet-black feathered smudging (a look to try at home) whereas Dies Van Noten boldly displayed graphic liner with a simple black stripe.

5. The Middle Parting

Don't panic! It is still here, but in a much less grungy style. With a perfectly symmetrical parting, the hair needs to be poker straight and sleek according to Miuccia Prada, coining it "bus-stop hair:

"That thing when a gust of wind sticks long hair to lip gloss. That's a look now."

This trusty hair style was seen among Valentino, Alberta Ferretti and Mary Katrantzou at Paris Fashion Week AW14.

6. Tribal Make-Up

We also witnessed the bold use of colour at boundary-pushing Vivienne Westwood to form some innovative tribal masks. Some girls had a relatively subtle Victoriana rosy cheek, whilst others had their foreheads graphically painted with tribal shapes to resemble masks. Probably not one to try for a night out, but aesthetically pleasing nonetheless.

7. Pastel Eyes

Ah, the perfect look for summer! Not only do we have head-to-toe pastel clothing, we can now finish off the look with sorbet shades on our eyes.

Chloe girls sported a delicate lavender tint whereas Chanel went for braver neon pink and orange hues. Christian Dior took it a step further by showing smoky, glittery dull pastel tones designed to beautifully reflect the light.

8. Ponytails With a Twist

Perhaps the most wearable hair trend from Paris Fashion Week was the segmented pony tail. Seen at Valentino, these super long, sleek ponytails were punctuated with black elastic hair ties at regular intervals the entire way down.

The much-talked-about Chanel show also gave us ponytails but this time adorned with tweed dreadlocks, rags, lace and pearls.

9. Bleached Out Everything

When Miley did it we all thought she was crazy. But she might just have been onto something. Following on from the ice blonde hair craze to sweep the catwalks earlier this year, bleached out eyebrows seems to be the new in thing. It may not be a look designed for everyday-wear, but it certainly packs a punch.

Alexander McQueen and Givenchy bleached the models' eyebrows blonde, regardless of their hair shade, completing the look on some models with bird-like false eyelashes.

10. Moonlit skin

This subtle make-up trend is great inspiration for a dewy, fresh-faced spring look. The blonde brows at McQueen were set off by some serious contouring in an earthy-bronze, iridescent colour palette. A great natural look that you can tone up or tone down as much as you like, whilst still staying effortlessly on trend.
